SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE THIS EVENING

Severe Weather Possible Tonight

Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain could occur Tonight
A complex of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop over the Dakotas this afternoon, then march east to southeast, moving through the Upper Mississippi River Valley region from late this evening into the overnight hours.  The environment is favorable for the storms to produce damaging winds and heavy rain as they move through.  The one potential caveat, which would help weaken the storms, is if a complex of storms fires over western Iowa this evening.  This latter complex developing is highly uncertain, though.  Therefore be prepared for possible severe weather tonight.
A cold front over the Dakotas, associated with the complex of storms, is forecast to move through much of the region tonight into Monday morning, stalling out near Dubuque Iowa Monday afternoon.  Additional storms could develop near this front Monday afternoon across northeast Iowa and far southwest Wisconsin.  The environment would be favorable for a few of these could become severe as well.
In addition to the severe weather chances, both this afternoon and Monday afternoon look very warm and humid.  High temperatures could reach 90 in some locations, with heat index values from the low 90s to near 100 during the afternoons.
