Winter Storm Watch goes in effect Saturday Morning
Tonight: a 40 percent chance of snow around or after midnight. Low around 27 South wind 10-15 mph
Saturday: Snow. High in the lower 30’s. Chance of snow 100 percent. Snow amounts 1 to 3 inches.
Saturday Night: Snow and snow maybe heavy at times. Lows in the low 20’s. Chance of perception 100 percent. New snow amounts 3 to 7 inches. Storm Total Accumulations 6 to 9 inches.

Winter Weather Message From Olmsted County HSEM



OLMSTED COUNTY: Good afternoon! We are tracking a storm system projected to head into the Plains on Saturday, bringing a swath of moisture into southern Minnesota. Expect snow to spread into Olmsted County by 12-1pm on Saturday, with ambient temperatures in the lower to middle 30s. Temperatures will drop off below freezing as the snow picks up by late Saturday afternoon. Snow will be moderate to heavy at times from 5pm through 11pm on Saturday. Expect snow accumulations of 5-7" across Olmsted County and could be locally higher in convective snow bursts. Snow will be of "normal" consistency through the event. Look for all activity to exit by 5am on Sunday. Thanks for the question and stay safe

The Nation Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for area. Snow chances are going to start tonight around or after midnight then increase for the rest of Saturday. Snow accumulations during the day on Saturday look to be 1 to 3 inches and then our night time snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches with storm total 4 to 8 inches.   MORNING. THE BULK OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOW IS EXPECTED LATER

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES ARE LIKELY...MAKING THIS THE
  FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON FOR MANY LOCATIONS IN
  THE WATCH AREA.

* VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO A MILE OR LESS IN THE FALLING
  SNOW. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT ON SATURDAY. STRONGER WINDS
  SATURDAY NIGHT MAY CREATE SOME DRIFTING SNOW IN THE OPEN COUNTRY
  AREAS OF SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA AND NORTHEAST IOWA.

Weather Outlook

Happy December Everyone,



December starts with snow on the ground across the region. The snow has ended for our area today but look for our snow chances to come back my Friday and the weekend. Rest of today we can see cloudy skies with the highs only being the low to mid 30's. The wind will be gusting at time with wind speeds of 14-16 mph and as high as 30 mph. Tonight our skies will be partly cloudy and the lows will but in the middle teens. Below is the weather story from the national weather service in lacrosse this is currently what they are thinking is going to happen with our upcoming winter storm. Weather Outlook

Look for snow to develop in the early morning hours tomorrow through the day on Thursday. The overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 20's and our high's tomorrow will be only in the low 30's. Snow accumulations for our area look to be a dusting up to 1-2 inches. Now looking ahead for Friday and the weekend looks like we are going to have a chance of a good winter storm but it is still early to tell how much snow could fall in our area so stay tuned for more updates on this storm this weekend.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP TONIGHT...WITH THE BEST CHANCE AFTER
MIDNIGHT...AS WARMER AND MORE HUMID AIR SURGES INTO THE AREA. IF
STORMS OCCUR...HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLY LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING MAY
RESULT. ADDITIONAL HAZARDS WITH THE THUNDERSTORMS INCLUDE SMALL
HAIL...GUSTY WINDS AND LIGHTNING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY EVENING.
IF THE STORMS OCCUR...HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLY LEADING TO FLASH
FLOODING MAY RESULT. IN ADDITION...SOME OF THE STORMS COULD
